The Department of Statistics at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem invites
applications for an anticipated opening of a tenure-track position at all
levels, beginning October 1st, 2013.
Both senior and junior outstanding
applicants, including those about to receive their Ph.D. degree, are
encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a strong background in statistics. Candidates having a degree in computer science, mathematics or electrical engineering in directions associated with statistics are also encouraged to apply. Relevant research areas in the field of statistics may include: applied statistics, mathematical statistics, biostatistics, operations research, applied probability. Other relevant research areas may include: computational statistics, machine learning, data mining, computational biology, probabilistic algorithms.
Candidates are expected to have a strong interest and a track record in research, outstanding academic credentials, and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education. Postdoctoral research experience is highly recommended, although we will consider exceptional candidates without postdoctoral experience. Since the language of instruction at the Hebrew University is Hebrew, only candidates who have a working knowledge of the language, or intend to acquire one within a reasonably short time, will be considered.
The Department of Statistics comprises of 14 faculty members with a wide range of research interests, and administers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. programs in applied statistics, mathematical statistics, biostatistics and operations research. Joint undergraduate programs exist with various other departments such as Economics, Business, Psychology and new program with Computer Sciences.
